Hey everybody,
This is the blog I set up as a place to put down thoughts, ideas, and just generally anything I’m thinking about. I think that writing things down is so therapeutic, or at least I discovered this recently.
I’m Brandon, and welcome to Wojo’s Triad, the ridiculous title of my blog. I’m currently a second year medical student, 23 years old (soon to be 24), and a resident of the good ole state of Indiana. There are tons of eponyms in medicine, AKA some physician was the first person to discover something and decided, “Hey, I’m going to stick my name on this, and subsequently make medical students for generations after me memorize my name.” They could have named “Goodpasture Syndrome” something like “Disease where antibodies stick to basement membrane stuff”, which honestly would have been a lot easier to memorize and learn.
Virchow’s Triad is one of these things. I always joke that sometime before I’m done in medicine, I’m going to get something named after me, even if nobody else uses it. Hence, Wojo’s Triad. At the moment, It consists of sleeping, eating, and studying; this is mainly due to the upcoming USMLE STEP 1 (yuck). Yup, I just used a semicolon. I took English in high school. I’m sure that triad will change at some point in the near future. Sleep, your spot probably isn’t safe.
Regardless, welcome to some of the inner workings of my mind. Time will tell if this becomes more than just babbling about whatever stream-of-consciousness comes to mind. Maybe it’ll be useful. Maybe someone will read it. Who knows.
Welcome to Wojo’s Triad,
-Brandon
